Happy New Year

Today mark the New Year Eve.
I wish all the brothers and sisters scouts a happy new year.

But of course, recently till now, there is hardly any event, I treat that as a recovery process after a continuation of many events.

May we have a wonderful 2006! Cheers.

Encouragement

This week has been a week of expresssion. Everyone, whether vebally or through non verbal methods were trying to express their feelings. Though time consuming, to have a session like that is always welcome. It clears the doubts within us that hinder the development of our brotherhood.

I really believe most scouts wants to contribute something: passion, idea, time and even some money. The only difficult thing is that due to misunderstanding, coordination and sometimes pride clouded our execution. As illustrated:

Misunderstanding: It always started with I do more, you do less. We have forgotten that the whole establishment did not even started with us. There were/are effective seniors who took their time to establish the whole TFSG. Did they clamour for recognition? They did not. Each was a step, a small step that grow the group.

Coordination: Through my humble observations, groups flourished in the initial state and die as almost in a sudden within a short few years, or they become ineffective in execution. What has happened? Same action, but drastically different ending! The problem is when there is no coordination, or in a most expressive way of putting it, no respect of the whole coordination, being action-filled, will certainly kill it. Because without the coordination, there is zero accountability in the process. Everyone can do his or her own thing then there will be zero measurement. People will therefore leave.

Pride: The most deadliest sin of all. Last nail onto the coffin will be, pride. With pride, it clouds our mind. Everything becomes a "only I" can do it issue from the "the group" can do it issue.

There were some encouragements though:
Yongwei was there.
Suba was there.
Kaiqi was there.
Sutsiam was there.

Post recruitment

Just recovered from fever. So took a while to update the blog.

ZW, sorry for jumping the conclusion that you had also gotten fever because of playing basketball. ( For the readers infomation, he was down with fever because of building the structure in the rain)

The recruitment week and River raft were over. So a lot of generated events are effectively removed. :>

Again we had done the unimaginable, building the structure poles and tower within a matter of 2 days. We took them down within a few hours.

Maybe we should reflect how to transfer the skill to the coming bothers?

Again...as mentioned in my presentation:
"Despite the difference we have, skin colour, blood type, beliefs, ... in scouts, we are brothers."

Year 2006

Dear brother and sister scouts,

You may have receive 1~2 emails regarding the integrity of the email. This is a practical (real life )problem. I have to send a few times to ensure that that at least the integrity of the email is there.

For example: qj_frodo@yahoo.com becomes qi_frodo@hotmail.com.

The purpose of the email is to ensure that most if us will know of what is required to be done. Case in point will be the coming of the recruitment and the RR. Who is doing what? If you have done. Please tell me. So I can update.

As time and the year 2006, more items will be listed.

My vision is that the whole PLC can be more professional in the tasks allocated at. This is a unpolished draft. Ultimately every scout will have something to be done. Therefore accountability is ensured.

However if you have no tasks on your hand, it does not mean that there is nothing to be done. You may be involved in some key areas. Case in point - APL Wee Meng.

I have told the PLC including my 2 APL my concern and our backup plan. See far, do thing and united we do make a difference.

I am pretty put off some times by other secular things but whenever I see you guys doing some stuffs, building some stuffs, learning (discussing), listening...it lights up my day. Especially some of the corny things mentioned by PL Yong Hock...it does make a difference to know you guys...from there we learn. From me to you, from you to me...

That is the spirit

Yesterday, our school sent a few representatives to ZHSS:
PL JH
PL YH
APL WW
APL WM
J bros

I understand that there is a mis-coordination in timing. Maybe we can learn a lesson from this experience? Nevertheless, it is always good to see you guys in a group.

Met with SPL QJ and PL ZW and was touched that they were putting up the posters.
